Measure of Faith….

As I sit down to write, I was asking God what He wanted me to write about, praying about what to say, how to say it, the best way to give God the Glory He so richly deserves…

I think that most people believe that they have a measure of faith, and there’s all those famous sayings, walk by faith, take a leap of faith, faith for the hour, faith in the trials.  This moment, as I take a leap of faith and attempt to enter the blogging world, I cry out to God in these uncertain times.

You see, just a few weeks ago I found out I was being laid off from my amazing job I was so blessed and grateful to have. There was another change concerning a loved one that will take faith and trust to believe God that He will work it all out for His good and according to His Purpose… Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good, to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”

There was a school shooting or a staged event a few days ago at a Florida school, and so much controversy has arisen from this. There are so many acts of violence as this world is turned more and more depraved and toward the god of this world, satan. Every day, it seems there’s a story that is so sad beyond all imagination and children being hurt and people being deceived and lives and families being ruined by the evil one.  All I know is that I don’t know how people live that don’t have faith and most importantly salvation in Jesus Christ.  I trust God, I pray, I spend my time trying to seek after God in complete surrender which takes a huge amount of FAITH.

There’s just my daily thoughts and prayers, please Lord, I pray for Amanda and Justin and Bella, that she will grow up in a Godly home, please help them with whatever they need, draw them closer to each other and to You, I pray for Andrew Lord, please put a hedge of protection around him, please keep him safe, I pray for Chris, please keep him safe today Lord, please don’t let him drown and sustain him and give him strength. My prayers are for so many, if I’ve talked to you, I probably prayed for you this week. I have prayed where the Lord will put people’s faces in my mind, Lord, who do You want me to pray for? I see the faces and call out the names. in Jesus Name.

I need faith to trust God with my today and all my tomorrows. I have done some research, oh how I love to research and I hunger for truth and knowledge but in righteousness and true holiness. My Pastor preaches about faith and such powerful messages that just make me say Wow and tremble at the thought of being able to exercise the faith that is available to every true Christian.

I love clothes and shoes and accessories, one item that is on my want list is a pair of glitter tennis shoes or sneakers.  I get a thought, oh I really want that…. fill in the blank and then I get it goes on to something else that’s ohhhh, shiny sparkly things make me happy.  I saw the perfect shoes last night on that were so cute and exactly what I want and look like so much fun. So faith says, I can buy these shoes that are perfect and have faith that God will still take care of our needs with my current no job status…. Ummmm….. No, not exactly. But common sense says that after I get a new job maybe I can get those shoes and then go on to the next thing that’s on our list, I have a list for Andrew too, he fills his list of desires and as the Lord allows, his desires are sometimes given but amazingly through faith, our needs are ALWAYS met.

I was looking at the Word of God in the King James Bible and looking for scriptures about faith, according to the word faith is in the King James Bible 338 times.  God sure does talk a lot about faith, He also talks about not having faith and how that can hurt us.  This is Luke 17:5-6 ” 5And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. 6And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.” Can you imagine a tree being moved by faith?  God moving mountains by faith?

Acts 26:18 “18To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” Wow!! Praise God!! 1 Corinthians 16:13 “13Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”  Stand fast in the faith, it doesn’t say to sit down and do nothing, be strong….  But I’m so grateful that the Joy of the Lord is my strength!

Psalm 36:5-7  “5Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. 6Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. 7How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.”  His faithfulness reaches unto the clouds!! I love the living Word of God, these promises are so amazing!

How can I write about faith and not talk about Hebrews 11, the great faith chapter in the Bible, and how can I write about it, I think you just need to read it… Here it is for you and how I close this post and live by faith… oh Praise God, You’re so good to us.

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.

15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.

16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.

21 By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.

22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.

23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.

24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;

25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.

29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
